The striking beauty of Taos has attracted many famous artists, photographers, writers and actors throughout the years.  Taos is known to have more art galleries per capita than any other city in America, which is a good way to mix art with culinary adventures.  Very talented chefs are lending their skills to the art of culinary instruction.  This getaway will consist of a hands-on-cooking class that will be paired with gourmet dining to create memories of your special culinary getaway in Taos.

Day 1 – El Monte Sagrado

El Monte Sagrado is surrounded by mystical mountains, fish-filled streams, flora and fauna.  The El Monte Sagrado casitas are the original historic rooms with influences from the Caribbean, Mayan, New Mexican, Painted Horse and Tribal designs.  Each casita has been furnished by local artists, and have rough-hewn beamed ceilings and gas fireplaces.  The natural beauty surrounds you while opulent amenities rejuvenate your mind, body and soul. 


De la Tierra Gastronomic Dining

Dining at the resort is a demonstration of harmony with nature, and the creative menu contains global and local influences with an inviting atmosphere for dining.  De la Tierra Restaurant has stunning architecture and decor, and is graced with world-class cuisine.  While you are enjoying Chef Chaperont’s Tasting Menu, you will understand why De la Tierra was named one of the world’s best new restaurants by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine.

Day 2 – Southwestern Breakfast

The local, seasonal flavors that make the region unique, offered alongside stunning global selections will delight your tastebuds.  If you want a more natural setting, you can dine al fresco in The Gardens.  To get your day off to a great start try yummy Crispy Huevos Rancheros or the El Monte Eggs Benedict.  Daily breakfast is included with your package.

Private Hands-On Cooking Class, and a Fabulous Dinner with Chef Maher

James Beard winner Chef, Chris Maher will lead you on a 100% hands-on culinary class, and while New Mexico is famous for its salsas and chilies, you will learn how to integrate fusion into global fare and New Mexican cuisine.  The class will last for approximately three hours, and you will converse about techniques, and will be assigned preparation tasks and cook, as well as sit down to savor what you have prepared together.  You will have fun acquiring new skills, and will walk away having learned very special recipes and techniques.

Day 3 – Complimentary Southwestern Breakfast

Optional Self-Guided Taos Pueblo Tour

Taos Pueblo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a national historic landmark.  Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.  Admission price is $10 per person, and they have a $6 per camera fee if you are going to take pictures.
