The Native American culture saturates every fiber here, from delectable cuisine and irresistible art to the enchanting landscape.  Your luxury accommodations are just a few blocks away from the Plaza, which is the heart of the historic district.  Santa Fe is known as “The City Different” because of its melting pot of Native American, Spanish, Mexican and European cultures.  One of the first questions you will be asked when eating is, “red or green”?  This, of course, refers to the kind of chile you would like to be served over enchiladas, chile rellenos or other culinary Mexican fare.  

Day 1 – Arrival and Check-In

You will be staying at the Inn and Spa at Loretto, a boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown Santa Fe. All of the rooms feature individual climate controls, bathrooms have marble slate floors with vanity, hairdryers, tub and shower combination along with plush terry bathrobes and amenities from Gilchrist & Soames.  Additional appointments include:  clock radio stereo, mini bar, coffee maker, pay per view movies, voice mail, oversized arm chair with ottoman, and a glass top desk. 


Day 2 – Southwestern Gastronomy Tour with a Cultural Kick

You will be immersed in this 2-1/2 hour Santa Fe culinary tour as you learn about the history and culture of this famous southwestern city.  Learn how this distinct cuisine has evolved over the past 300+ years while sampling delicious dishes from local eateries, markets, bakeries, restaurants and other culinary landmarks.  This tour will give you a delectable sampling of Santa Fe’s regional cuisine, and you will have a different perspective on one of the Southwest’s greatest city’s.

Multi-Course Dinner at the Renowned  Geronimo

This warm and inviting restaurant was built in 1756, and sports thick adobe walls, Kiva fireplaces and wooden beams.  Geronomo’s is known for their grilled dishes and fresh ingredients presented in novel ways.  Each evening, the chef offers a tasting menu that incorporates local foods and produce to showcase the indigenous cuisine of New Mexico.

Day 3 – Hands-On Southwestern Culinary Class with a Master Chef

You will learn the finesse of Southwestern cooking from a top chef instructor.  The state-of-the-art kitchen is where you will learn the secrets to add to your cooking skills in this fun and educational class on techniques, tips and food specialties.  You are sure to enjoy this hands-on cooking class that covers a variety of New Mexico favorites that is taught in a small class format.  Chef John Vollertsen (Johnny Vee) is a renowned chef and food editor, and he will lead you through dish preparations to construct the most savory meal.  And then, sit down to revel in what you have just made.

The chef has taught cooking for over 15 years, and also has a second career in writing about food for The Santa Fe New Mexican.  He is also the dining and food editor for The Santa Fean magazine.  Because of Santa Fe’s rich culinary history, it is a Mecca for “foodies” worldwide.  His new cookbook is chocked full of unique and delicious recipes including full-color photography, useful tips, menus for entertaining and a section on stocking the pantry.  This personally signed cookbook is a delectable way to remember your special culinary getaway in New Mexico.
