Sample Itinerary

Day 1|  Once you land on Hawaii Island, secure your pre-registered Avis convertible, drop the top down and be on your way to the shores of the North Kona Coast.  Be transported back to Hawaii’s Golden Age, with five nights at Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows in an exquisite oceanfront room with daily breakfast.  The hotel has unique spa therapies, world class golf and twilight storytelling.  This evening unwind with a delectable seafood dinner at the CanoeHouse with Pacific Rim tastes (combination of Pacific island cooking, Asian cooking techniques, California freshness and other cultural and culinary influences) in an oceanfront venue.  Or, savor a “Captain’s Table” experience, an interactive evening with a blind tasting menu handcrafted by Chef Allen Hess with plantation delights, complimented with premium wines.

Day 2|  Hawaii is known for its coffee, beer and chocolates, choose from a variety of factory and tasting options across the island.  Visit the original Hawaiian Chocolate Factory, renowned for chocolates that are grown, handpicked and created on Hawaii Island.  Explore the orchard and factory, and enjoy delicious chocolate samples.  Learn about the entire process from growing the trees to the final molding of chocolates.  The Kona Brewing Company is known for specialized brews such as Pacific Golden Ale, Fire Rock Pale Ale and Longboard Island Lager.  Discover the intricate beer-making process starting with volcanically purified Hawaiian water, milling, fermenting and lautering.  Explore Mountain Thunder Coffee Plantation, a certified organic coffee farm through a fun, interactive excursion.  Taste the difference of 100% Kona coffee, and discover the secrets of the cloud forest estate, which produces coffee with unique chocolate and nutty flavors. 

Day 3|  Relax today at the resort, and this evening experience a delicious buffet of grilled steak and chicken, plus side dishes and macadamia nut pie at an Evening at Kahua Ranch, an authentic cattle ranch in the Kohala Mountains.  Be dazzled with the Hawaiian style cowboy entertainment with live music.  Kick up your heels with line dancing, or try you hand at cattle roping and a game of horseshoes.  Finish the evening with a sing-along around the campfire, devouring s’mores or looking through a Celestron Telescope from one of the best locations for stargazing on the island.

Day 4| An exciting evening awaits you at LAVA – Legends and Legacy Luau presented on the shores of the Pacific in a coconut grove.  The call of the conch, the lighting of the torches and the beat of the native drums beckons you to escape, relax with a cool tropical drink as enchanting Hawaiian melodies are performed by the Tahiti Serenaders.  This authentic journey features a vivacious cast of singers, drummers and dancers performing native songs and dances.  Delight in a traditional meal of Kalua pig, teriyaki chicken, mahi-mahi, lomi-lomi salmon, white rice, sweet potatoes, haupia  (coconut milk-based dessert) and pineapple upside down cake as you bask in the evenings entertainment. 

Day 5| Spend today exploring the charming town of Kailua-Kona, with chic shopping, a variety of dining experiences and legendary beaches.  Stroll the street with shaved ice or gather with the locals at one of the Farmer’s Markets.  Complete your evening at Ray’s on the Bay at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay, with delicious Pacific Rim cuisine and nightly live entertainment and spectacular views of giant manta rays in the ocean below.  Enjoy the tropical flavors such as crab crusted Kona kampachi and smoked ahi poke, followed by passion fruit cheesecake and a chocolate banana tart.

Day 6| After enjoying your delicious breakfast buffet at the Bay Terrace, drive your open-air convertible to the Kona airport for your flight back home.  Alas, Aloha!
