Go beyond the Riviera Maya restaurant scene and opt for some of these exclusive, unique dining experiences:  K’aak Night – Celebrate K’aak (which is Mayan for fire), with a delicious barbecue and roast suckling pig on the beach.  Feast on fresh fish and fine meats as you listen to Caribbean and jarocha (originated in Veracruz, Mexico) music.  Prices are $110.20 per person, and includes taxes and service fees (prices are subject to change).


Cooking Classes – Learn the secrets of traditional Mexican gastronomy from the Executive Chef.  Return from your vacation a master of Mexican cuisine.  Classes are held every Monday and Friday with a price of only $120.06 per person which includes taxes and service fees (prices are subject to change).  You must make a reservation.


Taco Night – Taste and enjoy these tempting tacos, empanadas and tostados from a menu inspired by Mexico City’s distinctive street food.  The Executive Chef will teach you how to prepare these delicacies, and dinner starts at 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays.  The price is $100.05 per person (prices are subject to change), and includes taxes and service fees.


Tequila Tasting – During this 40-minute presentation you will discover the fascinating art of tequila making.  The bartender will chart the history and traditions that lie behind this legendary spirit, while you sample some of the finest tequila including Blanco, Reposado and Anejo, and is held every day at 5:00 p.m. in La Cantina.  Prices are $73.67 per person including taxes and service fees (prices are subject to change).  You must make a reservation.


Cantina Night – ‘Noches de Cantina’ offers guests a truly authentic culinary experience.  Enjoy a feast of traditional Botanas (similar to nachos with usually beef and chicken fajitas, beans, cheese, guacamole and sour cream).  This home-style local cuisine is paired with the region’s finest beers, tequila and mezcal (mescal).  Dinner starts at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays, and the price is $113.33 per person and includes all service charges and taxes (prices are subject to change). You must make a reservation.


Wine Tasting – Your expert sommelier, Gabriel Ceron, will guide you through an enticing array of wines paired with tasty tapas.  After the tasting, enjoy a private tour of their award winning wine cellar.  Tastings are every day at 5:00 p.m., and the price is $86.71 per person, and includes all taxes and fees (prices are subject to change).  You must make a reservation.


Fish Market – Be at one with nature with a dinner on the beach under the stars.  Feast on delicious grilled fresh fish and seafood.  Dinner is every Monday at 7:00 p.m, and the price is $113.39 including taxes and service fees (prices are subject to change).


Chef’s Table – The executive chef is inspired by ancient techniques and local ingredients of Mexican cuisine, and creates a complete six-course dinner including dessert.  Chef’s Table is every Wednesday, and the price is $$166.75 including taxes and service charges (prices are subject to change).

El Restaurante – Savor sensational regional cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

By night, tables glow with candlelight, while a band serenades you.  Be tempted by the executive chef’s rendering of traditional Mexican cuisine.  Dishes include crispy duck tacos with salsa borracha (usually made with beer and jalapenos), seafood pozole (seafood soup) and lobster enchiladas.  They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

El Sol Restaurante – Offers contemporary, responsibly sourced Mexican cuisine in a stylish-rustic setting.  Each dish is an imaginative marvel, with a focus on the origin of the ingredients.  Try Yellowtail Amberjack with white racado aioli, onion dust, serrano chili and grasshoppers.

La Cantina – La Cantina makes botanas – (much like nachos with chicken and beef fajitas, beans, cheese, guacamole and sour cream).  This home-style local cuisine is paired with the region’s finest beers, tequila and mezcal. Only open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 7:00 p.m. – Reservations Required.

Freddy’s Tequila and Ceviche Bar – This wonderful beachfront spot offers the largest collection of tequila and mezcals in the region.  Discover the history of Mexico’s famous liquor and dine on the finest fresh-fish ceviche, sushi and sashimi (bite size raw fish eaten with soy sauce and wasabi paste).


Award-winning Kinan Spa which offers a full range of spa services in an exceptional environment ranging from treatment gardens with private gardens, outdoor canopy rooms in the Zen Garden, and a rooftop treatment room with 360-degree views of the ocean and jungle.

Yoga and Wellbeing – these inspirational classes are suitable for all levels.  Open Class: $37.99 (prices subject to change).  These classes are offered Monday to Sunday from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. 

Private Sessions are also offered $124.45 for up to two guests (prices subject to change, and reservations are required).  Offerings include Vinyasa, lyengar, Hatha, Ashtanga and Restorative.  They also have meditation, cardiovascular training, corrective exercise, a regimen for fat loss, flexibility program, bodybuilding or sport-specific training.

Temazcal – This is an ancient ceremony performed at dusk, and involves chants and meditation.  Heated rocks are immersed with herb-infused water to make an aromatic, healing steam.  Aloe vera is then applied to nourish the skin.  After the sun sets take a plunge into the sea.  You will be left feeling refreshed and at peace. $

Melipona Bee Hive – As part of their commitment to environmental harmony, Kinan Spa keeps a hive of Melipona bees on the property.  These bees do not sting, and these friendly creatures are a crucial part of the local ecology.  The honey that is harvested is known for its strong anti-microbial and healing properties.  The Spa uses the honey in a range of treatments and products to offer a uniquely Mayan experience. $

Personal Trainers – Make an appointment to start a new program or perfect your existing routine.  Their personal trainers will help you reach your health and fitness goals. $

Three freshwater pools – There is a large family pool, and one exclusively for adults.

Two complimentary tennis courts.  If you need to perfect your game make an appointment (24 hours notice $95 per hour – prices are subject to change)

Fitness Center.  They have Kinesis stations, cardio equipment and wellness equipment.

Complimentary bike tours through the many paths in the jungle where you will see brightly colored butterflies and parrots.

Game Center for adults and children.



For a peaceful environment, TVs and DVDs are not placed in guest rooms, but they are available on request for an additional charge.

Snorkel – Allow yourself to be amazed by the colors of the Gran Arrecife Maya, the second largest barrier reef in the world, or adventure in the uniqueness of a cenote (these are formed by collapse of porous limestone bedrock revealing groundwater pools.

Rio Secreto -You will experience the secret world below, crossing for an hour and a half through the crystalline water museum filled with a kaleidoscope of thousands of stalactites and stalagmites in this protected natural reserve.  Your guide will brief you on the site, usage and safety, and provide visitors with all appropriate clothing and equipment.  You will be guided on a tour of Rio Secreto, walking and swimming along the route.  A light but substantial lunch will be provided after this one-of-a-kind exciting experience.  $109 per person.

CoCo Bongo – Chances are you will not find another club in Latin America that offers such variety.  Acrobats equal to those seen in Cirque du Solei, impersonators and the best DJ in Playa del Carmen.  The multilevel seating, as well as the nightly Rock ‘n Roll and Salsa bands makes it the most vibrant and unique club around.  $150 per person for Golden Members.
